More than just a collaboration album between an alt-pop singer and a lofi producer, "Mid 20s" is an attempt to pay tribute to the twenties in an appropriate way. The project's title does not only refer to the own twenties with all their emotional chaos, reorientation and self-finding, but equally relates to the social issues of the twenties of our century. With spring to summer sounds, the 12 songs offer at times catchy melodies that easily find their place in playlists, on the radio, television or café, but on closer listening unfold a complex thematic depth that encompasses climate crisis, criticism of capitalism and self-acceptance.
For Lia J and Bastido, the album marks the peak of their collaboration to date, which has been well received on radio stations such as Deutschlandfunk Kultur, COSMO and Bayern2, as well as major streaming playlists.
"Mid 20s" will be released on July 5, 2024, digitally and on vinyl via the label Besser-Samstag.
